Using MAGICNUMBER to Link to Book Checker
On many wikipedia-based sites, when a book is cited, there are links to stores and to price comparison sites automatically created. On these sites, there is a field called MAGICNUMBER that is replaced with the ISBN or EAN of the book being cited.
Linking From Outside of Wikis
You can link to Book Checker just as easily outside of a wiki-based website. Using the same format, like
bookchecker.com/MAGICNUMBERSimply replace MAGICNUMBER with either the ISBN or the EAN of the book you'd like to link to. Do not include hyphens or spaces, just use the alphanumeric characters of the ISBN after the slash. As an example, a link would look like this
bookchecker.com/0060146990
Origin of MAGICNUMBER
There is an explanation of how all of this works on the Wikimedia Meta Wiki, and you can see how Book Checker is linked to from there. You can read more about that there.
